An excellent win yesterday away from home at Letham Grange in the 2nd round of the Annodata Matchplay Championship. The match was all square after the 5 singles matches. Keith Walker won 3&1 and Simon Gray won his match 8&7. Graham Forsyth lost 6&4 and Craig MacLellan also lost 3&2. Iain Michie managed to half his match. Unfortunately another defeat in an inter club match away to Dunkeld where we lost 3-1. Well done Simon Gray and his partner Graham Forsyth who won their match 4&3. Roddy Thomson and his partner Scott Reeves lost 6&5, Iain Michie and Craig MacLellan who was making his debut for the club lost 2 down and Keith Walker playing with Charlie Forbes lost 1 down.

Strathay lost away from home to Dunning Golf Club in an inter club match 3 1/2 -1/2. Simon Gray and his partner Keith Walker managed to half their match. Simon Gray & Keith Walker, Brian Brown and Scott Reeves and Jim Wilson playing with Greg Reynolds all lost closely contested matches. Rob Cairns and Graham Tinto were our only victorious pair winning 2&1. A great evening was had by all and the buffet was first class!

After an excellent run, Strathtay Golf Club lost in The Bell Trophy final losing to Pitlochry Golf Club 3 1/2 matches to 1 1/2.. All the matches were very close and played in a great spirit. Brian Brown was our only winner 2&1 with Iain Michie securing the half. Keith Walker, Simon Gray & Mac Fraser were all second on the day with the first two both losing 2&1 and Mac 4&2. A terrific achievement for such a small club like ours to reach the final and all we can do now is go and win it next year

Strathtay Golf Club who where at home defeated Comrie Golf Club 5-0 in the quarter finals of The Bell Trophy. Keith Walker was unable to make the match so in came Jim Wilson who won 4&3. The other results where John MacBeth 7&6, Simon Gray 6&5, Iain Michie 2up and Brian Brown 7&5.

After the match ended all square at 2 1/2 to 2 1/2, our designated number 5 player Iain Michie (after halving the 1st extra hole in 7) won on the 22nd hole in a sudden death playoff.

The draw for the second round of the 2014 Men’s Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic has been completed. Strathtay Golf Club has been drawn to play away against Braemar Golf Club.
On Sunday 26th of August 2012 the Gents team won the prestigious Cowan Cup for the first time since 1990 by a margin of 8 shots. This annual event rotates around seven Highland Perthshire courses - teams of 6 gents compete with the lowest aggregate four scores per team declared the winner. The winning team pictured left to right were:

Lowest Scratch score overall was John McBeth, Strathtay (65) and lowest net score was Brian Park, Kenmore (60).
The full result was: 1st Strathtay (257), 2nd Dunkeld and Birnam (265), 3rd Kenmore (266), 4th Blair Atholl (272), 5th Pitlochry (276), 6th Taymouth (278). Aberfeldy were unable to send a team.
Secretary Jim Wilson told the Courier “It was a fantastic day for the club and the lads showed a lot of character to pick up the trophy after such a long time. The course is in great condition and Bongo our green keeper does a fine job turning the course out like that on his own”.
